Selecting a criminal law firm to represent your case or trial is a significant decision and one that should not be made hastily. While there are hundreds of lawyers in the Tampa Bay area, not all offer the same criminal law experience and client dedication as I, Anthony Candela, do.
I received my Board Certification in Criminal Trial from the Florida Bar three times, first in 2008, and subsequently in 2013 and 2018, earning the right to call myself an “expert” and “specialist”—a title only board-certified attorneys may use. This distinction places me among only 40 or so other lawyers in Florida.
While my board certification separates me from other attorneys in the state, it is not the only distinction that makes Candela Law Firm, P.A. the best choice for your representation.
Navigating Florida’s complex legal system is a daunting challenge for most people, especially at the early stages of exploring how it may impact their case or trial. For this reason alone, my 20-year tenure as a criminal law attorney can help you make sense of not only your case, but how Florida’s legal system may view or treat your case.
To ensure a fair, well-represented trial, you need someone on your side who has a history of trying delicate and challenging cases and treating clients with the respect they and their cases deserve.
After completing my Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Philosophy from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, I earned my Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh. But it wasn’t just the degrees that helped me develop my skills as an attorney; at Duquesne, I was a member of the trial team, negotiation team, and appellate moot court team which gave me multiple opportunities and “real world” examples to hone my skills before leaving university.
During this time, I was also a Certified Legal Intern at the Allegheny County Public Defender’s office for more than a year. There, I began taking part in criminal matters, including preliminary hearings, which reinforced my dedication to and passion for criminal defense work.
It was this passion that led me to Tampa, Florida, where I became a member of the Florida Bar and joined the Public Defender’s Office. In my seven years as an assistant public defender, I handled some of the most serious cases, including homicide, sex offenses, and other felony cases. During this time, I tried more than 100 trials, which quickly helped me hone my criminal defense skills that can help you in your case.
Few other attorneys in Florida possess the academic and court experience I do, ensuring that, should you retain my services, you will have unparalleled legal services on your side.
Because criminal cases span a wide range, you need an attorney who offers experience and knowledge within many different cases. I have the relevant expertise and qualifications to handle all types of state and federal trials. But beyond trials, I am qualified to take part in both state and federal appeals, including post-convictions.
While my passion lies in criminal law cases, I’m proud to offer wills, trusts, and estate planning services to help you and your family manage sensitive considerations. I possess the necessary qualifications to help you prepare the aforementioned documents and living wills, end-of-life documents, and child protection plans.
With 20 years of experience and dedication to helping clients navigate the complex legal system, I am well qualified to ensure you, too, receive a fair trial and have expert representation on your side. I know your trial is unique, and I will treat you with the respect and individuality you deserve. Want to learn more about how I can help you? Contact me today and let’s get started.
